The BJJNerd Learning Method

If you do the same as everybody else, you’ll be just like them. Do more but more efficiently. Success is routine. Anyone can do it. - Leonardo Correa.

🤓 Bjjnerd learning method is a systematic way of learning jiu-jitsu. It emphasizes positive long-term habits, discipline, and training methodology to add compound improvements to your leanings. It’s for normal people, like you, like me, who are open to learning and explore alternative ways of learning.

“From someone like you” - I am just like you. I have no super powers.

There is no magic. If you are looking for the "quick way", do not read any further.

Who is this for?

  • For people who have a normal lifestyle: BJJ is a hobby, work from 9 to 5, have a family, enjoy good food and occasionally a drink.
  • You put in the hours but feel you are not progressing.
  • Want to have a training strategy.
  • Want to compete and build a game plan.
  • Looking for ongoing optimization

What this is NOT

  • Become better than XYZ. Today you need to be better than yourself yesterday.
  • For professional athletes. They are different species. They don't have the same problems we have such as work full-time, take care of kids, etc.
  • Online graduation or help me to graduate faster. Faster graduation may happen naturally as part of ongoing effort.
  • Learn BJJ positions. I’ll show some examples but the focus won’t be to learn positions. You should learn position primary from your instructor. Or find them on Youtube or BJJFanatics.

Basic principles

  • Build positive habits & discipline
  • Improve training quality - work smarter
  • Have training purpose & clarity
  • Identify principles & concepts
  • Build physical and mental models for visualization
  • Learn to use specific training (deliberate practice) to progress

Why did I create this course

I wanted to explain to my friend Yuri Marques the way I learn BJJ, also learn everything else in general. I started to explain but it took a long time. I wondered about how someone could retain all this information and refer back to the topics. That's was the perfect opportunity to document and structure the learning process.

This course is a result of my learning process in sports and professional areas. This course should help you not only in BJJ but also in your professional life.
